Days Between Dates
Find the exact number of days, weeks, months and years between any two dates.
About the Days Between Dates
This tool counts the days between two dates and can also express the gap in weeks, months and years. It helps with project planning, contract terms, countdowns, warranty checks and working out how long you have been in a job.
One question surprises people: does the count include both the start and end dates? A simple difference subtracts one date from the other, so from 1 January to 2 January is one day. If you need both the first and last day counted, as with hotel nights versus calendar days, add one. The tool lets you choose.
Months and years are less precise than days because months differ in length. When the result is shown as months and days, whole calendar months are counted first and the leftover days after that, which matches how people describe a period such as 3 months and 12 days.
From 1 September 2026 to 31 December 2026 there are 121 days, which is 17 weeks and 2 days. Counting both the first and last day gives 122 days.
Tips for best results
- Spans that cross 29 February in a leap year are one day longer.
- For deadlines in working days rather than calendar days, use the business days calculator.
